The Dangers of Cleaning Your Own Oriental Rug

I had a really nice condo in Fort Lauderdale but because of health issues with my elderly mother, I had to sell it so I could take care of her. In my family, assisted living facilities or nursing homes are not an option for older family members. Besides, my mother wanted to stay in her own home, and the doctors agreed that this would be the best thing for her. In all honesty, it didn’t make any sense for me to maintain the bills at my Fort Lauderdale condo when I knew I couldn’t stay there. I contacted a local realtor and they did an evaluation of my home.

Smelly Carpets are the Worst

There is nothing worse than going into a relative or friend’s West Palm Beach home and experiencing nasty odors emanating from the wall to wall carpeting. That is, unless those smelly carpets are inside of your own home. Unfortunately, I’m guilty of having smelly carpets, especially in the rainy season. You see, I have 3 Golden Retrievers whom I love dearly however; they love playing outside in the rain. Of course, they love the pool too but when they go swim, they dry off quickly in the sun. They simply can’t dry off when the rain keeps coming down.

Absolute Best Carpet Cleaners Saved My Oriental Rug

My home in Fort Lauderdale Florida is done in an Asian, oriental type of décor. I was an Army brat growing up and my father was stationed in a bunch of different places in Asia. That love stayed with me all of my life, and I decorated my Fort Lauderdale home with a lot of Asian influenced art, furniture and knick knacks. It makes me feel happy and serene after a long day at work dealing with crazy people who want something for nothing. The whole Asian theme of my Fort Lauderdale home provides me with a bit of an escape within the city in which I work and live.

My Worst Nightmare Came True

Let me start by saying that my mother-in-law and I have never, ever gotten along, and even after thirty years of marriage, we still do not get along. I get that I took away her little boy but really, she needs to give it up and get over it at some point. Unfortunately, she is still a nitpicking person that will never think that I am good enough. Anyway, I was preparing for her annual visit. I thank my lucky stars that she lives seven hundred miles away. I got rid of every single cobweb in my Boca Raton home. Anything that could be dusted was dusted. I polished all of the granite, Murphy’s Oil Soaped the wood cabinets. The house looked amazing. It was so clean that you could eat off of any surface in the house. That is, until my husband showed up after work and walked inside with greasy boots on his feet.

My New House Disaster

After about five and a half years of saving every penny we could, my husband and I were able to get together enough money for a down payment on our first home in Fort Lauderdale. This was a big step for us because both of our parents always rented apartments, and never had the opportunity to purchase their own homes. We were the first ones in either of our families to step across the line, step up to the plate, and take our wonderful swing at becoming homeowners. Both of our families were extremely proud of the major accomplishment that we made in our lives. I should say that we are both 28 years old, and have a spectacular, brilliant, adorable three year old. Yes, I am a proud Mama, so deal with it.

I’m a single guy, no pets, and my parents only visit Fort Lauderdale once or twice a year. The small guest bedroom will be just enough for them, and not let them get too comfortable, if you know what I mean. The house suited me to a T. I loved it when I first saw it.

I Thought My Carpeting was Ruined

Last week, I was outside working in the garden while my 9 year old daughter was inside of my Fort Lauderdale home watching her favorite Disney shows. This is pretty much the normal routine for Saturday mornings at my house, because my husband generally works until noon. So, I was pulling out the never ending supply of weeds that grow inside of the flower beds that go around the foundation of the house when my daughter opened the front door and asked me for help. I took of my gloves and went inside, thinking that the cable went out or something. It was much, much worse that a problem with the cable TV.

Buyer Beware When the House Has Tile Floors

After scrimping and saving for five long years, my husband and I finally had enough money to make a down payment on the house of our dreams. We were absolutely thrilled. The house had all new appliances, and fresh paint with colors I could actually live with. There were tiles throughout the house, which meant no worries about carpet cleaning. The former owners had loads of area rugs throughout all of the rooms. Considering the owner had tons of knickknacks all over the place, I just thought she was a little on the eccentric side. I was very wrong. Right after the closing, we went to the house to clean it. I wanted it pristine for moving all of our new furniture in. My jaw dropped. Little did we know that those area rugs placed everywhere in the house were covering horrible stains! I was in a state of shock. There’s no way that we could afford to replace all of the tile. Our budget was tight as could be with the new mortgage.
